What I Ate in LA | LA Travel Diary

One of the exciting aspects of traveling is the opportunity to try new foods in new cities. During my trip to LA this month, I took advantage of being in a big city with a lot of great eats and documented the spots I visited. Thus, here is my food diary for my trip to LA this month!

PIER BURGER / SANTA MONICA

330 SANTA MONICA PIER // WEBSITE

My first meal in LA was this burger - what I consider to be an overpriced meal that satisfied my hunger but not my cravings.

BCD TOFU HOUSE / KOREATOWN

After a long and stressful travel day, I went on the hunt for some good old Korean comfort food at BCD Tofu House.

I quickly indulged in hot barley tea, delicious banchan (Korean side dishes) as well as some bubbling hot 순두부찌개 (spicy tofu soup) with beef. It was a great way to warm myself up in the cold LA weather.

GROUNDWORK COFFEE / DTLA

One of my favorite things is to find the best coffee shops in town, and it is honestly one of the things I look forward to most when traveling. This LA-based coffee shop was one of my first stops on this coffee tour of mine, though not my favorite. I paired a latte with a scone for breakfast, and headed on out to explore the city.

CAFE DULCE / LITTLE TOKYO

134 JAPANESE PLAZA MALL // WEBSITE

Little Tokyo is filled with cute little shops and bakeries, and this one was my favorite. Cafe Dulce serves coffee and donuts as well as brunch and other treats, and has a friendly staff and seating both indoors and out.

Their most popular item appeared to be the "bacon" donut, but being one of the few people in the world who unfortunately is not a fan of bacon, I opted for the Fruity Pebble donut hole, and it was a great indulgence.

MENDOCINO FARMS / DTLA

444 S FLOWER ST // WEBSITE

For dinner on a rainy LA evening, I opted for a sandwich from Mendocino Farms. The staff was unbelievably kind, and I was able to try many of their dishes for free. I took the staff's suggestion and ordered this chicken sandwich, a healthier version of a fried chicken topped with a hefty helping of veggies.

DOCUMENT COFFEE BAR / KOREATOWN

My next coffee shop stop was this one in Koreatown, and it was by far my favorite! The atmosphere was inviting yet quaint and quiet, and the coffee and pastries were delicious.

CAFE COLLAGE / VENICE

1518 PACIFIC AVE, VENICE, CA // FACEBOOK

Coffee #2 of the day in Venice, California at a small coffee shop near the beach.

JOHNNIE'S PIZZA / MID-WILSHIRE

5757 WILSHIRE BLVD, LA // WEBSITE

For dinner on Day 3, I shared a pizza with my brother James. This pizza was the best I have eaten in quite awhile and a great way to warm up after walking in the cold.
